Euro or Dollar

Euro or $ whatever you have we ahve the market for change(BLACK),

today 1700 kyats to 1 euro,

1$ to 1280 kyats

but not change at Air port, and on street, just ask in hotel they also pay you lesser then current prise,

Euro or Dollar

Dollars are much more commonly seen.

Do rememer that many things have to be paid with USD.... Such as entrance fees... most hotels.. transport.. except local, so you may need to change less money than you expect.

A few weeks ago... 1 USD was worth around 1280-1290 Kyat in Yangon and 1240-1250 in Mandalay.

1 Euro was worth 1600 Kyat in Yangon and 1500 in Mandalay.

You only get these rates for new USD 100 notes... smaller notes = lower rates... We didn%26#39;t change anywhere else....

In Yangon just about everyone will approach you to exchange... We chose to change in a place where we bought some things... (eye glasses)..... as we didn%26#39;t like to do business in the street or the market...

In Mandalay it%26#39;s somewhat harder to find places to change... ask the taxi or cyclo drivers... they know.

Hotels give you less Kyat than above rates.

Happy travels:-)

Hey grouvy-

Bring USD. Much better rates compared with international exchanges. If you have to buy $$$, bring large, clean notes, and NO 100 bills with CB prefix on the serial number. They will not accept them.

Hi,

It%26#39;s better to bring Dollars than Euros.

As we booked our trip through Tour Mandalay we could prepay most of our trip in Euros to their account in Brussels. That was very convenient. So we didn%26#39;t have to change our Euros into Dollars and bring large amounts of cash.

You only need cash Dollars to pay entrance fees, some restaurants, etc.

We%26#39;ve asked our guide in Yangon to change our Dollars into local currency. He gave us a very good rate.

I can really recommend Tour mandalay. They did a great job and everything went as planned.

Have a nice trip!

If you don%26#39;t mind me asking... what was the rate of exchange for your Euro?
