Kyat exchange rate

Hi ,

what is the current Kyat rate. How many do you get for a dollar ?

Is it true that they prefer large dollars bills (= better rate).

What a normal price to hire car + driver to go from Yangon to Bagan,Mount Popa,Inle lake,Kalaw,Mandalay (kings cities) and then back to Yangon .

You are right re big note dollars bill for better rate. Normal price should be around 75/80 USD per day with A/C 3 seaters, driver and fuel. Hope this is the best price I can find. Without A/C, you can bergain a bit lower but it depands. I don%26#39;t know.

There is a rumor about Myanmar like it%26#39;s very cheap to get a car with cheepest price. It%26#39;s NOT a wonder (guess) fuel expenditure in the world is same as every where from Iraq to USA even.

I was there in August and got about 1050 kyat for one USD. You can get slightly better rates if you change $100%26#39;s. They will only change PERFECT bills. No pen marks or small tears, so get new bills before you go. I had an issue because several of my new crisp 100%26#39;s had a pen mark on them (made by the bank I believe) and nobody would change them or accept them.

At present situation, you will get 1200=1d approximately. This is right , you will get better rate for big notes especially with the big head picture. You have to pay about 75 / 80 dollars per day for saloon car with A/C , fuel and driver expense. If you like to know detail informatins, please contact to wintours@myanmar.com.mm. We are working in tourism industry.

Best regards,

where is the best place in Yangon to change USD to Kyat?

hi, last year in octobre it was about 1000-1300 kyat they gave you for a dollar. but anyway - the exchange rate is highly negotiable... greetinx c. (true for bigger bills more kyat)

When I was in Myanmar last month (September) the exchange rate I got ranged from 1,200 to 1,300 kyat. I always changed money at the hotel where I was staying. Street dealers offered me a higher rate but I never used them because I%26#39;ve heard that they will sometimes shortchange you. So, if you do use their exchange, service, count all of the money they give you. With so many small bank notes, that stack can be big, so many people don%26#39;t bother counting it all. As another poster said, be very careful with any US dollar bills that you try to exchange. I had several rejected my last trip because there was either a small rip, or some black mark or smudge on the bill. And any bills that start with a CB serial note will also be declined.

Not sure about car rental rates. I rented some for short trips outside of Bagan or Yangon. To go to places like Mount Popa or Salay the price was $20-25 for the half day trip. To go to Bago from Yangon I paid $40.
