From Myanmar to Thailand

Hi!

I′m going to Myanmar for a couple of weeks in March and are now wondering if its very difficult to travel by land from Myanmar to Thailand? Does anybody have any experience of that?

If there′s anybody who has any tips of special/amazing things to do in Myanamar, please let me know!!

From Myanmar to Thailand

I wouldn%26#39;t recommend it. It is not safe at all.

From Myanmar to Thailand

Rules have changed.

After October this year it has become more difficult to enter and exit Myanmar on the 4 week tourist visa via the land borders. You will need a special permit to do so.

From what I understand possible at embassies or in Yangon only. Takes 10 days to get reply and there seem to be some rule that you must exit where your landed/entered.

BTW.. from the border areas you will need to take an internal flight anyway to the central areas.. You are not able to travel unescorted in those regions... So it%26#39;s now really only practical to enter/exit via Yangon... Mandalay air has a Thursday flight from Chiang Mai to Mandalay.

Thanks for the help. I will skip the bordercrossing by land and take a flight to Thailand instead.
