off beaten track

I%26#39;m wondering how freely one can travel off the beaten track in Myanmar. I am also wondering what is the best way to do it while keeping costs down. I%26#39;m interested in visiting some of the more remote tribes and am wondering if this is possible.

Are there any restrictions to travelling within the country?

off beaten track

There are certain areas with restrictions and you need to contact to travel agent in Myanmar to get permission to travel. The process will take about 2 weeks or more.

As pyomay said, there are some restricted areas. But if you go through a tour agency in Yangon, must can arrange the permits necessary to visit some - but not all - of those places.

Keep in mind that travel to some remote areas is difficult - and time consuming - because of poor road conditions.
