We just arrived back from Myanmar (12days trip) on Sunday. We had the most wonderful experiences in Myanmar. We loved the sights, the people and the food. Regarding your question about driving yourself. I would not or could not suggest that you drive yourself. It is not that the traffic is so bad/mad as in other parts of Asia rather that if you had a problem and needed to deal with any officals you may find yourself in trouble. It is not expensive to hire a car and driver and this would be the more sensible approach. It would also give you the chance to look out the window and not miss any of the sights. The roads are also very bumpy off the beaten track and even on the beaten track and if your car breaks down you would have problems with communication. Will you carry a mobile phone, there are no telephone booths around. It just doesn%26#39;t seem practical to me.
