Yangon in october?

I am considering visiting Yangon for the first time this october (first week).

I am looking at staying either four or five nights, is this enough time?

What should I look at doing apart from the Pagoda,Circle train trip and maybe a trip to Bago?

Will there be much rain at this time?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

I%26#39;m in the middle of planning for a trip there myself, and not a lot wiser than you when it comes to Yangon.

For what it%26#39;s worth, it sounds like a very long way to go just for a few days in a big city. Is there nothing else in Myanmar that you like to see or do while you are there?

I am glad to reply. There are many interesting spots apart from the Pagoda and the train. You should not miss these: (1)downtown area where colonial buildings and religious buildings coexist. There are cinama stalls where you can observe the locals ,betel-nuts,iced-water sellers.

(2)Bogyoke Market

(3)Gem Museum

(4)Strand Hotel

(5)National Museum

(6)Kyaukhtatkyi Monastery

(7)Glass factory

(8)China Town

(9)Allied War Cemetry

(10)ferry-boat trip to Thanlyin.(highly recommended)

A day-return trip to Bago is a good value. It is probably a good idea to go

to the Golden Rock.It rains about 2 hours long almost everyday. But,it is ok.

It is advisable to hire a guide to go to Bago,Golden Rock,Shwedagon ,downtown area and Thanlyin.

Stay for ten days or two weeks or three.

Yangoon 3-4 days. fly or train to Mandalay.

Inle lake 5-7 days. Bagan 3-5 days.

take your time there: slow down [to their pace] so as not to miss what is there to see; meet the people; take time to smile back at them and say hello; travel low [simple] so your money goes to the common people

Thank you both for the info and web sites.

We have actually been planning for about 2 weeks and do the 4 areas mentioned. Thought we’d forget about the beaches at least for this time.

Thanks again.
