Whats it like? Would it be better to go to thailand for the beach?
What else is there to do in and around the resort?
Ngapali beachThe last time I was on the beach (Ngapali on the Indian Ocean Coast) in Myanmar was about 2 years ago. I am going back there and another beach location (to compare) again this year. I will be able to update you after I come back.
What is it that you want? If you want to relax, completely relax, just eat drink (beer or coconut juice straight from the fruit, coke or pepsi etc.), swim, walk on the beach and chill out completely, Ngapali is for you. You will be able to explore some off shore islands nearby; do some scuba diving, see some corals. I understand oneof the hotels have now got a speed boat (my heart really sank with the news). Visit some fishing villages or villages and the Sandoway Town inland. Nothing else much. No night life. Very very good for star gazing on the beach at night (if you%26#39;re interested in finding the Belt of Orion, Cassiopea, Scorpio etc). It is just a very natural tranquil life. Walk on the beach early in the morning and see if you can pick up good sea shells all along the stretch. One thing you could do, is take a flight up further north to Mrauk-U an ancient city I think it is earlier than Bagan in Central Myanmar.
If you want restaurants, clubs, nightlife, crowds of tourists and locals, lots and lots of cars and bikes; then broken bottles, tissue papers, plastic bags and condoms on the beach in the morning (or any other time, now a days) then beaches in Thailand are for you. Having said that there are isolated near pristine beaches also if you can find them in Thailand. Generally most of the beaches are busy in Thailand, and in Bali.
Ngapali beachthanks loads for that. We%26#39;re not actually going until dec 2007 but im trying to plan how many days to save annual leave in advance etc. Im actually half burmese but am 27 and never been before. I have family in rangoon that i will be staying with at the beginning of the trip. Let me know about the other beach when you%26#39;re back and have a good time!
