beach ettiquette

Hello, the wife and I are going to myanmar for the 1st time and had a question about beach etiquette. We usually prefer to go au-naturelle, but weren%26#39;t too sure if this would be ok in myanmar Otherwise, would my wife be allowed to sunbath topless and/or thong allowed? We keep reading that most of the beaches are empty, but nothing is ever mentioned about this. We wouldn%26#39;t want to offend locals or get into trouble, please help us out!

Please tell me that you are joking?

In a Buddhist country... wow.... And I thought the Swedish girls were pushing it with their bikinis and G-strings at Patong beach.... It may feel good for you to wear.. or rather not wear... Doesn鈥檛 feel good to look at... no matter how gorgeous you are or think you are!

Hi,

Advisedly do not is my reply. It would certainly offend the locals from the villages nearby. Swim-wear and perhaps bikini for women and swimming shorts or swimming briefs for men would be acceptable. I would not advise thongs either. Modesty is the cultural norm. Don%26#39;t get confused with the Buddhist culture (which also implies modesty). Buddhist culture is of acceptance; but for the people, where an action starts to stretch the limits of acceptance, at one point (in this case sunbathing or swimming) becomes tasteless and offensive to them. Then depending on the individual, one may stay away, turn away or may complain.

hi, thanks for your replies, we%26#39;ll make sure to keep the clothing on.

Dear Sir,

Nothing bother... at Amazing Ngapali Beach, Myanmar!

Frankly, it is inappropriate for a woman to sunbathe topless ANYWHERE in Asia, and definitely in Myanmar. If you really want no tan lines, you%26#39;re best off in Phuket.
