Visa on Arrival in Mandalay?

I am going to enter Myanmar on Mandalay airport coming from Chiang Mai . Is it possible to get visa on arrival there? If not, would two days Thursday/Friday be lang enough to get visa in Bkk?

I checked the site referred to by the previous poster, traveltomyanmar.com. They do point out you must apply 5 weeks ahead of arrival to Myanmar. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I%26#39;VE HEARD OF THIS. I would not personally trust this!

I got mine in BKK. It took 2 days although it took others 3 days. It is not totally predicatable. When I return I will get it before I leave home - by mail from the Myanmar embassy or cousulate. You can get it a reasonable amount of time ahead - 6 months I believe, and it does not begin your 28 days until you arrive in Myanmar. That is much safer.

I was inquiring to try and find out about getting one in Bangkok and it seems the office is understaffed and only open short hours so they might not make your time constraints.

If you do pre arrange the visa on arrival...

do make sure to get a letter from the travel agent confirming your arrangement.... Otherwise your air line will not let you board the plane for Myanmar.

We arranged our visa before departure in Australia... It took about 2 weeks.... Bangkok or Singapore is ok too... if you make a stop there.

Visum can not be arranged in Chiang Mai.

Only air mandalay fly Chaing mai to Mandalay.

Is possiable to get an arrival visa , if you conect with Myanmar travel agient. But without buying anything from the agient is alittle bit difficult , and alot of travel agients and goverment office are in Yangon and Nay pyi daw ( New capital )So, even the agient agreed you to make arrival visa it will be expensive.

You can get visa in bkk by express system.

Not sure.. the visa on arrival website has supposedly not been operating for the last year or two.. but perhaps it%26#39;s back in busyness.

For a while this could only be done through travel agents (at a fee) (I know that some hotels also offer this service Incl. Hotel At The Red Canal in Mandalay).... but you need to book other things through them... like rooms or tours...

If you do manage to arrange your visa this.. do let us know, most of us do it through the Consulates around the world... In any case... it may take 2 or 3 weeks..

Do make sure you get a letter from them confirming the arrangements.. Otherwise you will find it impossible to board your Myanmar flight... Good Luck.
