5days yangon

Have finally settled on 5 days in Yangon in feb 2007.

Thinking Dunsit Inya Resort on lake in Yangon to stay.Found good price on line.

Would like to visit Bago, is there much to do/see and best way to get there/prices too.There will be two of us travelling.Where else is good, dont want to catch planes to go further up as too expensive.Will do that next time.

How much money should I take US dollars wise.

Also tour guides to use if people have recommendations.

thanks all for any information.

5days yangon

Only 5 days? Not much time to get a good overview of Myanmar. Yangon is an interesting city, but 2-3 days there is enough. If you have the time take a flight (domestic flights are fairly cheap) to Bagan or Heho (Inle Lake) and see more of the country. Bago is okay but I wouldn%26#39;t go out of my way to see it. A little further east is Kyaiktiyo (Golden Rock) and this is very worthwhile to visit.

The Dusit Inya Lake is a very nice hotel but also very expensive. It%26#39;s also a bit isolated and far from what I consider the ';heart'; of town, down near the river. That%26#39;s a great area to explore on foot.

Your dollar budget will depend, for the most part, on the hotel you select and where you eat your meals. If you are not travelling to other cities it should be a very cheap trip.

hello from myanmar,

That will be ok, if you want to arrange flight ticket when you arrived in Myanmar, there is not so different with on line, but from Yangon- Bagan with round trip , the ticket is cheaper than 200 U$, may be about 130 U$, I amnot sure exactly. But don%26#39;t worry , your guide can handle that, just contact to Rico or me, ok, welcom to Myanmar.

'; HAVE A NICE TRIP ';

When we were there in 2006, we visited BAGO on the way to Golden rock. We hire the car for 2 weeks and a guide as well. If you are thinking to take guide service, we highly recommendation to the guide who took care of us called Mr. YE( his address: ye700@mail4u.com.mm), he is honest, good English and know about his country. He could explain us most of the thing what we questing out. Ye%26#39;s guiding fees is 15 USD for a day and including his meals and everything. Ye can arrange for all kind of transportations depend on your wish and budget. You can consultant via mail and we did the same. Actually Ye was recommended by our friend called Clifford who had been travel with Ye. Then we exchanged several mail and he also gave us some idea.

The normal food in Myanmar is about 1500 Kyas to 200 Kyas, 1500 to 2500 for one beer but depend on the restaurant. While you are there, you must use dollar for Hotel, entrance fees and domestic flight. So you can calculate by your own I think. If you want to know anything about Myanmar, you better mail to Ye and he is very nice man.

Have a good trip to Burma.

Bago is terrific. Great pagodas. Do not miss the reclining Buddha at Shwethalyaung. And the biggest pagoda in Bago, Shwemawdaw. Also, if you want to buy wood carvings or turned wood items, Bago is the place. If you are a skilled bargainer you can get them down to about 1/5 the price of similar items at Bogyoke.

There is also a great Chinese restaurant there. The name escapes me, but everyone will know it. The food is amazing. Try the fried prawn rolls. They give you like 30 pieces!!! And I think the price was around 2500 kyats!
