In the latest Lonely Planet Myanmar book it mentions that US curency that have serial numbers starting with CB arfe very difficult to exchange in Myanmar, due to some counterfeit problem.
Is this correct?
All of my US dollars have serial numbers starting with GB, which at first glance looks like CB.
Will I have any trouble exchange these Us dollars?
They are all new notes not marked or creased in any way.
US currency serial numbersI%26#39;m sure that will be ok...
we are in the same boat and I%26#39;ve inspected each note carefully....
did you read this post already?

US currency serial numbersWe were in Myanmar in Aug. We didn%26#39;t have any trouble using GB serial numbers. We did wish we had taken along a lot more crisp clean 1 and 5 dollar bills, as it was sometimes difficult to use 20%26#39;s for smaller purchases. Myanmar was fabulous!
Thank you for your replies.
I suspect that maybe the notes with the CB serial number are the older notes which are just the two colours without the new added bits of colour.
I don%26#39;t know for sure but I vaugely remember something about the reason they added colour to the greenback was to make them more difficult to counterfiet.
Seatlle treveler it sounds as if you had a wounderful time! It make me more eager for my trip
Thanks
Nancy
LP is on the money (forgive the pun) with this one.
Don%26#39;t bother with CB prefixed bills. You will be unable to use them anywhere but the fanciest hotels. And NOBODY will change them.
If your money is even a little word, has any writing, bank stamps, tears, even the most minor imperfections, it may be useless to you.
You%26#39;ll be fine with GB prefixed notes. It is only CB notes that will cause you a problem.
