We are travelling to Myanmar for about 3 weeks from the middle of December. We are flying into Bangkok early in the morning and then out to Yangon 2.5 hours later. I know we will need a multi entry visa for Myanmar but do we need a visa for Thailand if we are only spending a total of 5 hours at the airport?

You will not need a visa to enter Thailand... while you are in transit in the airport

In any case you would get a stamp for 30 days stay (in Thailand) in your pasport if you were to go through immigration.

However if you do... you would then have to pay 500 baht departure tax per person.

Points you should know about your Myanmar Visa On Arrival

You don%26#39;t need to send your p/p or VOA processing fee to us before hand %26amp; you can fly in to Yangon with the VOA processed by us. We will process your Myanmar VOA which will be official %26amp; approved by the Myanmar Visa Issuing Authorities and this will take ( 14 ) days time to process. Afer getting your VOA we will scanned email it to you %26amp; another to the Yangon office of the airline that you will fly into Yangon %26amp; this VOA will inturn be relayed to their counter parts in Bangkok.Kndly bring in three p/p size photos of each of you ( this time real photos not scanned ) %26amp; please don%26#39;t forget that there is no photo shop or photo copy centre in the Yangon International Airport you will be met by one of our staff ( who will be holding a placard --- your name written on it ) deep inside the arrival lounge before you pass Immigration %26amp; Customs and you will be cleared out swiftly, your Immigration %26amp; Customs formalities attended.
