How long in Mandalay?

I am wondering how much time I should set aside to visit Mandaly during my trip to Myanmar - any recommendations?

3 days for Mandalay itself: Mandalay Palace, the Shwe Nandaw Kyaung - the original part of the Mandalay Palace - it is actually King Mindon%26#39;s chamber in which he passed away - donated by his son Thibaw to be a Royal Monastery, not far from the Royal Monastery is the work-shop sales offices of the famous Mandalay Tapestries, the Maha Muni Pagoda, Mandalay Hill, Kutho Daw (where the the whole Tri Pitika is written on marble slabs) , the city itself, Zay Cho - the market. then perhaps a half day trip to Pyin Oo Lwin (previously known as Maymyo -the former colonial government%26#39;s summer residence)

Then you will need at least 1 day to Sagaing, Sagaing Hill then the U Bein Bridge, Kaung Mhu Daw Pagoda

Another day for Inn Wa (previously known as Ava) for the Me-Nu Oke Kyaung, and the Bagaya Kyaung

If you are able to spare another whole day, arrange to go to Mingun up river to the crumbling Mingun Pagoda and the Lawkananda nearby. It will ake about 3/4 of the day. You will not regret it. You can also go by car; but I will not recommend the drive! Much much scenic, pleasurable and faster going by a boat. You can ask the hotel to arrange for a small private boat. Costs around 3-4 USD for the round trip when we (2 of us) went 2 years ago.

How long in Mandalay?

For Mandalay,just 2 days is good enough,The first day you go to Mingon,The big temple that not finished contructive temple,that you will start (9-Am) and will back arrive to MDY 1:30 Pm,and you go on the long wooden bridge we call U pain,that is nice for the evening and sun set, next day just go around Art craft work shops and pagoda if you like to see many pagodas and Monastary.

Do not miss one of the Monastary that is we call Shwe kyaung,The king Mindon old palace and when he died his son,the last king thi baw move to out of palace and donation to the chief Monk.

ok just 2 and half day is enough for your days of Mandalay
