We ae traveling to Bangkok and then either Myanmar (Yangon, Bagan, Inle Lake) or Northern Vietnam (Hanoi, Halong Bay and a beach) for the first two weeks of August. guides list this as the rainy season (not ideal) and we would like to go to the dryer of the two. anyone have experience travelling there then?

If you like it hot and dry... Bagan, Mandalay and Inle lake is your answer. But predictions on weather is pretty tough to make these days.

We were in Bagan, Myanmar in the first half of August 2005. It was lightly overcast and cool, warm rather than hot. The whole archeological area was green although they don%26#39;t get much rain, only short light shower if that, and the whole place with the temples and pagoda was magical. We stayed at the Bagan Thande Hotel which is on the banks of the Irrawaddy River; and it was luxurious with light breeze looking out over the river to the mountain range across. Travelling around was also made very easy and wasn%26#39;t hot and sticky as it used to be when we were there in January/February the previous 2/3 times before. However, the monsoons did give us it%26#39;s welcome when we got back to Yangon! I hope you would decide to go to Bagan and Inle whcih I imagine would be similar because they are both in the north in the relatively drier zone; but Inle, being on the Shan Plateau might just have that little bit more chance of rain (I am guessing here, of course). Any way, Bon voyage.

In Auguest in Burma, that is so nice for travel,And dry and a bit of warm and every is greeny cause after rainy season in upper Burma. In Inle lake you will get good picture of clouds over lake and In Bagan you will get enomorus clouds cover the temples and pagodas,
