Thanks to other posts on TripAdvisor, we used Hnin Le Khaing as our guide in Myanmar (March-April 2007). She took excellent care of us, especially our 7-year old son. She is highly knowledgeable about Myanmar%26#39;s history and treasures -- she was able to answer most of our many questions about the sights we saw. She was able to adjust our itinerary to suit our up-to-the-minute preferences and negotiated on our behalf for drivers, etc. She does not take commissions on souvenir purchases -- she returned the commission given her on laquerware we purchased -- to us! We felt ourselves in very good hands during our stay. She says on her website that it can be cheaper to travel with a guide than without, since many fees and rates are negotiable. I find this claim very reasonable.
If I had known then what I know now... I would have taken care of our
international flights into and out of Yangon, and left the rest to
Hnin. She is very responsive on email; it would be quite easy to work out the details of any itinerary ahead of time.
