Two days in Rangoona & Bagan and how to do it fromm bkk

Hi I know we dont have alot of time in each place but am

going to need to make the most of it and any suggestions

would be appreicated.

We are coming from Bangkok to Rangoon and will

be staying there two nights and main goal is to see

the pagodas no other real plans. We then want to get

to Bagan but Im having trouble getting flight times and

prices, as limited time want to get there as early as

possible. I then want to go either from Bagan back to

Bangkok but can you let me know what airline as

again seems hard to find online. Or can you get to

Katmandu from Bagan?

Is one visa ok for both places? Also where in Bagan can

I stay to be closest to the pagodas and what are the main

pagodas to see that would be a must for the short

time we are there?

Two days in Rangoona %26amp; Bagan and how to do it fromm bkk

You will certainly be rushing around! You won%26#39;t be doing justice to either Yangon or Bagan with just one night in each place. Ideally I would recommend 3 nights in Yangon and 4 nights in Bagan.

When are you going? At this time of the year, it gets quite hot, so I%26#39;ll advise the best as I see it or as what I would do (in Yangon). (Between October - February, it is cooler and my advice would be slightly different)

Get the first morning flight you can get to Yangon from Bangkok. I think Thai Airways gets in about 9 or 10 am. You won%26#39;t get into Yangon until about 12 noon (and that is provided everything goes smoothly). It will be quite hot by then, so leave the Shwe Dagon Pagoda until about 5 -6 in the afternoon, or even later, say around 7 - 8pm. It is magnificient lit up at night. So in the time between, (get/take a taxi? - i.e a suggestion rather than a question) to the Reclinining Pagoda at Chauk Htat Kyi, then go on to the Ka Ba Aye Pagoda with it%26#39;s Ordination Hall built to resemble a cave. then back to the hotel, go to the Sule Pagoda in the center of Yangon (before dinner, perhaps?) and then set off for the Shwe Dagon Pagoda later.

You will need to have arranged your flight to Bagan before your arrival in Yangon. Saves time. The earliest flight I had taken from Yangon to Bagan is around 7:30am with Air Mandalay. there are also flights around the same time with Air Bagan and Air Yangon. I think costs around USD 90 each way.

Bagan will also be hot at this time of the year.

My recommendation in Bagan would be the Thande Hotel, Bagan or also known as the Bagan Thande. It is in the Archeological Zone on the banks of the Irrawaddy River. Very scenic and quite reasonably comfortable and most certainly good value for money. I think it is around USD 60 per room per night. It has a swimming pool. The room I had sleeps 3 very comfortably. There is the Bagan Hotel (careful you don%26#39;t mix the names of the two hotels) next door, I I felt it is over grwon with trees and shrubs and I felt you don%26#39;t get the benefit of the river bank. If you can afford the Thiripyitsaya Sakura Hotel which is next door, on the other side, is very very good indeed at about USD 125 + per room per night. The river view is equally as good as the Bagan thande. You will need a car although you will be able to walk or cycle (hired from the hotel) to some pagodas and temples nearby.

You cannot fly into Bagan from Katmandu. Nor can you fly between BKK and Bagan.

VISA: Visa for Katmandu will not be valid for Yango/Bagan. Katmandu is in Nepal; Yangon %26amp; Bagan is in Myanmar (Burma) two separate and different countries.
