How is the new airport in Yangon working? And how far is is to the city? I will be taking a taxi to The Governor%26#39;s Mansion Hotel (was Pansea), near the Shwedegon Pagoda. How long a ride to get there?
New Airport; distance to Yangon
There are no new Airport. The old same place far from down town 16 Km.,They make shine all of the arrival and depart gate and building.
From Pensea o airport that will charge (6000 kyats),that equal to ( 5 $).
from hotel governor to airport.will take 40 minutes.
New Airport; distance to Yangon
As indicated above the airport location in Yangon has not changed but the international arrivals area has been refurbished (even perhaps in a new building) since my earlier visits in the 1980s. It used to be a dimly lit hall but now much improved. I think domestic flights still use the older part of the airport.
I believe you will enjoy the Governor%26#39;s Residence hotel, far different from earlier accomodations! And be sure to visit the Shwedegon in the evening both for the lighting and because other tourists are absent, dining at their hotels.
I think we better call new airport building.. isn%26#39;t it... The new building is working well by singaporean design. it is compact. well we hope for the better service...
Pansea is a good choice. there are taxis charging 6000 Kyats.. better check if you are coming alone the taxi should not share with others since you are paying full...
