Exotissimo

We are planning on going to Myanmar in January and are thinking of booking a tour with Exotissimo. Are they a good tour company?

Exotissimo

We are leaving on Saturday and have used Exotissimo for our booking.

Their prices are fair and their email correspndence is excellent.

I will let you know the results in a couple weeks.

We live in Bangkok and find Exotissimo to be a solid, reliable and attentive boutique tour operation. Highly recommended.

I have flight reservations into ygn on 20 Jan and out on 28 Jan. I am looking to form or join a group. I contacted Exotissimo after reading your post and they offer what appears to be a good tour at a good price for 8 days leaving YGN on 13 January; but don%26#39;t have one for the 20th yet.

They told me they need a minimum of 4 to form a group and get the group rate.

I can%26#39;t change my dates, except perhaps to arrive on the 29th or a bit and leave on 5 Feb. My limits are fixed by long haul arrival in BKK on 17 Jan and departure on 5 Feb. I have BKK - YGN flights and internal Thai flights and hotels book around tht 20 Jan - 28 Jan trip to Myanmar, so changing the Myanmar trip is contingent on being able to change everything else.

Sorry for the long story; but the essential question is whether your schedule and inclination would allow forming the group with

Exotissimo for the 20 -28 Jan trip?

Thanks,

Steve

Sorry Steve, we%26#39;ve already booked our flights and our dates won%26#39;t work out. Have fun.

Discrete- could you let me know details of this trip- I may be interested

Sorry to but in, but we just finished a tour with Exotissimo in Myanmar. They we the absolute best! They met us INSIDE customs and held our hand all the way.

Our final domestic flight was running behind schedule. They had a person meet us at the plane to get our baggage check and assure that they made it on our departing international flight.

You will have a great time in Myanmar.

Enjoy

I did a three week trip thru Vietnam, Cambodia %26amp; Thailand last November fully booked by Exotissimo...we had planes, trains and automobiles...boats, various hotels and several different local guides...all went off without a single hitch! The guides were great and really made the trip for us! Communication was very easy by email...we even made a few changes once abroad and they were extremely helpful...I will book with them for my upcoming trip to Myanmar!

Thank you to everyone for your help! We will be booking with Exotissimo and will let you know how it goes.

Just a side note to people who are looking to book through Exotissimo, Diethelm or any other Travel Agency with foreign ownership: You are handing over much more of your money to the Military government than if you went through an independent guide or independent local agent.

I disagree heartily with those who think that foreigners should not travel to Myanmar, but if it is possible, I shall avoid handing over cash to the government. If you MUST, use this agency. I am sure that the Myanmar people who work here and support their families through their work here are knowledgeable and nice, but quite frankly you will have a more authentic experience with a completely independent guide.

To balance out my statement here, I shall also say that there are 2 advantages to using a foreign agency. The first is that you can pay for much of your trip in advance, thus avoiding the necessity of lugging around huge amounts of cash. The second is that it is easier to communicate advance itinerary changes to and from the client.

As I have said in earlier posts, however, the carrying around of cash is little more thanan inconvenience as the possibility of theft is truly minimal here. Also, with email it is quite easy to communicate with your independent guide.

By the way, independent guides here must all be licensed, and the examinations to get that license are extremely rigorous. Only a small percentage of those who undertake it will eventually succeed, so the vast majority of guides are extremely knowledgeable and will enrich your Myanmar experience.
