burma - where do i start

looking for help with the following please; never been to Burma but think it looks so exotic and beautiful, would love to go but know absolutely nothing.

just a few quick questions for you -

1. which city is a must see for beginners?

2. is it best to fly into Bangkok , then which route?

3. best time of year to visit?

thankyou so much, shirley

burma - where do i start

The most popular places would be Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan and Inle Lake.

Cheapest way for most people is a return flight to Bangkok and the return with airasia Bangkok to Yangon..... Look also at Thai air flight direct to Yangon.. via Bangkok...

Or Qatar airways Non stop into Yangon.... You fly from London via Doha... very good rate.. and if you only wish to visit Myanmar.. probably the most easy and cheap ticket.. Kuwait airways fly into Bangkok.. (and on to Manila) at a competitive rate.

Best time would be November to late February.. it the coolest and driest time.. But some people enjoy what the call the gree season.. its hot and damp.. but you see it at a time when its green in the north.. fewer tourist around.. and cheaper rates in hotels and guest houses....

burma - where do i start

BTW... if you do wish to combine a visit to Myanmar with time in Thailand.. one option is to fly from Chiang Mai to Mandalay with Mandalay airways..... they are the only airline doing this flight and one of the very few options for getting into Myanmar without going through Yangon.. works only in the one direction.. Return is via Yangon... Mandalay air fly once per week... Thursday PM.. cost one way is around USD 120... Which is around the cost of a return ticket with airasia between Bangkok and Yangon.. (if you buy early and on-line).. but doing it this way saves ';back tracking'; within Myanmar.. bear in mind that road and train travel is slow and uncomfortable....

best time.. not to mention Yangon though as int%26#39; Port!

Mandalay, Bagan.. in Rainy reason .. heavily pour only in southern part of Burma, not in Upper Burma.. so .. come ..Aug, Sep.. price of Dom flgt also Low..

Better come to Yangon first.. because Ching Mai- Mdl.. flight is too small for you and take time..s Chingmai.. 3000 ft above sea

better come and see .. INLE Lake 2000 ft above sea.. but more beautiful.. with leg rowlers

Ready pack U%26#39;r bag and come NOW!

You%26#39;ll always be a NOVICE for everything first time..

be sure confirm you booking first.. with agents.. which is lower price.. for DLX hotels. not to mention 3 seasons HOTEL on 52 street. sometime you can%26#39;t get room. because it%26#39;s too small. But good!

Hope to see you in Myanmar very soon.

Victor

Lots of good advice has been already given but if you really want your hand holding as a first visitor you can book inclusive tours direct from the UK - Bales , Coromondel , Audley Travel etc - worth getting their brochures which are well researched and full of good photos and hotel details.
