Thailand to india via burma

Going to india next Jan from thailand. Hoping to travel over land through burma.

Has anyone done this trip or any advice.

Read the trains and buses are a nightmare.

Can fly for $400USD.

Would rather travel over land to see the people and the culture but sounds like it could be alot of hassle.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It%26#39;s not that it%26#39;s a lot of hassle... it%26#39;s simply impossible to travel through Myanmar to India from Thailand.

The only way to travel overland between Thailand and India is via China, Tibet and Nepal.

You can not cross the border between Thailand and Myanmar and travel to Yangon or Mandalay without flying over the restricted area, and you can not cross the border between Myanmar and India (or Bangladesh) at all.
