Aurieum hotel chain

Does anyone know if this resort is good in ngapali beach AND in Bagan .......

Thanks,

Bette

Aurieum hotel chain

Aurieum hotel?... Pretty sure the one in Bagan is that monstrosity or should I say atrocity.. with the viewing tower.. right in the middle of the heritage site....

Aurieum hotel chain

Thanks ......... you made your point ...... I am not staying there

Whilst my info is 15 months out of date we did have a look around their new resort hotel at Ngapali , whilst being constructed.

Individual teak bungalows , many with plunge pools or spa tubs and appearing to be very up market.

Do not know whether it opened for 06/07 season and will have to wait till the end of this year to check it out.

Worthwhile web searching to see current info.

If mosegrisen has the right hotel I agree it, and particularly its tower, is a monstrosity, and unfortunately so close to the temples. I can recommend on the high end the Thiripyitsaya, now part of theSakura chain. Ask for a room facing the Ayeyarwady River.

Check some of the on-line booking agencies for deals... hoteltravel, asiarooms and others cover Myanmar.... just do some searching on google. Also the local agents give better deals than booking direct with hotels.. generally.. at least in the top range.

Auriem Hotels

Thanks you all for the info ..... I AM using a local agent in Burma ..... I won%26#39;t be booking myself online ( too old for that :))

..... I just wanted to know how the Aurieum was in Ngapali Beach .... and the one in Bagan ......

But thanks for any suggestions.

Bette

We didn%26#39;t go to Ngapali and stayed in just cheapy in Bagan... but the one that seem to get very good comments at Ngapali is this one:

http://www.sandowayresort.com/

In Yangon we stayed at Traders and Kandawgyi Palace. In Mandalay ';Hotel Red Canal';.

Sandoway did get good comments except for Lester%26#39;s comments on the cockroaches coming via the drain ... he liked the hotel .... and his comment about the roaches via the drain were very astute ... :))

I had a similar experience ( roaches coming from the shower drain) when we stayed at the Mena House ( palace wing) and had a spectacular view of the pyramids in Geza ....... paid through the nose for the room ..... thank GOD it was on the last night that I saw the roaches or I would have freaked out!! This hotel has one of the highest rankings ( Hotels of the World or some such nonsense.

I think my Burma agent was trying to tell me that the Aurium in Bagan was A MONSTROCITY .... but her English didn%26#39;t come across so well. WHich is why I posted on Tripadviosr .

A Fodor%26#39;s person who had a well documented trip was pleased with it ( Bagan) ...... and since I was going to Ngapali ..... I thought I would ask .....

I was beginning to worry about this forum. I know I contribule all the time when I visit hotels ( I add my two cents on TripAdvisor) ..... Now you guys are showing your true colors .... thanks ...... I am sure I will have more questions .....

Thank you everyone AND MAJOR THANKS to Lester ......

Creepy crawlies are, I%26#39;m afraid, part of the joy of travelling in the hot climates... Mostly in the better places they spray to an extent that I fear the chemicals do us more damage than the roaches and other insects would.. Living in a hot climate myslef these days.. I%26#39;m pretty used to them.

About the Aurieum at Bagan... if its part of your tour, why not.. Looks ok and the location, while remote.. at least you get to stay in something unique:-).

As for Mena House.. I did considder it.. But opted for the Conrad instead... No roaches there.. well, only the two legged ones downstairs at the casino... Happy travels...

I can pick my own hotels .. it%26#39;s not part of any tour except my own.

Thanks for evryone%26#39;s help.....my mother in law is very ill so my mind will be preoccupied with her and the doctors for the time being ... when I can ';think clearly'; I will post again.

I am not ';doing'; the Aurium ..... I am booking Sandoway ( along with the creepy crawlers, Traders in Yangon and my mind is still not made up about Bagon but it%26#39;s either Yangon Thiripyitsaya Sakura Bagan, or Hotel Tharabar Gate ( not 100% sure yet)
