2 weeks trip to myanmar and laos

I just came back from Myanmar not long ago. If you go, try to avoid the raining season. It%26#39;s about 4 months long. For the best route, take a non-stop flight to Bangkok, Thailand, then flight from Bangkok to Yangon with Air Asia (you can book online with airasia.com for 20USD) Most people travel to the popular cities like Mandalay, Inlet Lake, Yangon, and Bago. Great sites with lots of history. Be prepared for unbelievable temperatures or 40 degress celcius or higher. Book hotels online with 3 stars or higher for 30USD or more. Even 3 star hotels don%26#39;t have the ammenities we have in North America. A great place to check out would be the beaches. It%26#39;s about an 6 to 8 hour bus ride (cann%26#39;t book online, buy ticket at bus station) to either 3 or the nice beach. If you would like to see the not to tourist sights, check out Mawlamyine. As for the islands, theirs nothing special about them, just small ones close to the shores. If you want nice sight seeing islands, check out bangkok on your way out. And theirs not many adventures in myanmar besides hiking. I hope you didn%26#39;t think it%26#39;s a white water rafting adventures over there. People there and not really into ports like that. Be careful and try not to get ripped off by too much. If you don%26#39;t speak burmese, your will garentee to get scam a few bucks. Not a big deal to us, but it%26#39;s a lot of money to them. Besides some taxi drivers ripping you off, every Burmese people we met were very nice. I would suggest getting a translator. Very inexpensive. Currency rate should be 1usd=1200kyat. You can get it at most hotels or travel agency officies. Ony buy it in Yangon and get the cleam new smaller bills. Good luck and enjoy your trip. I%26#39;m planning on going there next year during their winter season which will still be 35c over there. Remember to get a visa which you can get from Myanmar tourist websites. It it%26#39;s mandatory. Give me a shout if you need more info.

opps, didn%26#39;t know i had that many spelling problems. my bad.

Keep in mind the winter weather in the highlands of both Laos and Myanmar, Luang Prabang and Inle Lake, for example, and take sweaters or easily packed thermal underwear. I remember my gratitude at finding an old-fashioned water bottle in my bed returning from dinner at a lake hotel! Otherwise winter is the perfect time to visit both countries.

Hi,

You can either fly into Yangon from Bangkok, by Airasia, or from Singapore by Silkair. The latter being the slightly more expensive option. Myanmar is a beautiful country teeming with beautiful people. Getting ripped off or scammed is an essential part of travelling. How to get ripped off as little as possible is the education! Computers and cell phone access is few and far between. Learning the local lingo for P%26#39;s and Q%26#39;s is a great ice breaker. If you need a local travel agent/guide email Umyo at melite@myanmar.com.mm

Winter months are great times to visit...then again so is the rainy season as I thoroughly enjoyed getting drenched and pelted by huge raindrops...oohya!

Don%26#39;t talk about local politics...chin up..eyes down and you%26#39;ll fun!
